Does Vietnam have internet?

Vietnam actually has excellent internet. It’s cheap enough that I can’t even tell you how much it costs me. Literally every cafe supplies free wifi which is amazing. There are cafes everywhere in Vietnam, ranging from fancy Starbuck like cafes to a roadside stall with plastic stools, but all of them have great wifi. It’s super convenient and you’ll always find a few Vietnamese people playing MOBA games on their phones at every cafe.

I personally think that Vietnamese internet is better than Australia’s internet. In my experience travelling in both countries, Vietnam has way better internet. Honestly Australia is annoying as fuck to travel in without a SIM Card with 3G, and those are kind of expensive to make you consider going without. But it’d be hopeless. You would need google maps or something and would be fucked. Whereas in Vietnam you could literally just drive until you don’t know where you are then stop at the cafe that is probably within 10 meters of wherever you stopped. Buy a $1 coffee and use their wifi and then you’re back on track. In Australia the coffee would be $5, and they probably wouldn’t have wifi, or they’d be dicks about it.

The only issue is that occasionally the internet goes down. Some people say it’s because “Sharks eat the cable”, meaning the submarine cable connecting Vietnam to the rest of the world. I always assumed this was a joke, but actually it does happen sometimes. Check this video for the dickhead shark who is responsible for your internet going down. Shark Bites Fiber Optic Cables Undersea

More likely it’s just due to the shitty cabling system Vietnam uses. I have no idea how this ‘system’ works, but it does somehow. Vietnam doesn’t seem to have power outages any more often than anywhere else from what I’ve experienced. But still, just look at it. And it’s like this pretty much everywhere.

Oh, there is also some internet censorship. But it’s really mild compared to China’s. On my computer twitter is blocked for some reason, whereas facebook and every other social media site isn’t. If they did ban facebook the whole country would revolt I think, or at least every Vietnamese woman would, they love “fay-bu” more than anything. When I lived in China a VPN was essential, in Vietnam I only need to use it once every few weeks.

Oh give me a break, some of you guys really answer this question sincerely.

even uneducated dumb ass would only asks can civilians in Vietnam uses internet, same way you may wonder how big is the population of North Korean internet users. But to asks if internet is available in Viet Nam, it’s like asking does electricity as a physical element reaches Vietnam. I think those who sincerely answer this question shall learn to play around people who manipulates his or her own thought in this manner for a unpleasant purpose

In 2018, The London-based company released the “State of LTE” report, analyzing the performance of the global mobile wireless networks after conducting nearly 60 billion measurements on almost five million devices in 88 economies.

Vietnam’s 4G connections are much faster than the United States and most of its Southeast Asian neighbors, although signal is not always available.

The 4G speed in Vietnam was measured at 21.49 Mbps, far better than 16.31 Mbps in the U.S. and faster than the rest of Southeast Asia, apart from Singapore.

Singapore clocked the world’s fastest 4G speed of 44.31 Mbps, followed closely by the Netherlands, Norway and South Korea, according to the survey by OpenSignal.

Vietnamese users only had access to 4G networks 71 percent of the time, less than Thailand (85 pct), Singapore (84 pct), Malaysia (75 pct), Brunei (74 pct) and Indonesia (72 pct), the report showed.

Crazy question.

With a ten dollar data sim I get 15 gbytes of 4g coverage almost everywhere, valid one month.

Also every hotel, guest house, coffee shop and restaurant has fast WiFi.

Better internet and cheaper than anywhere else I have been.

More than 70 million Vietnamese have access to the Internet. One of the signs indicating how pervasive Internet uses in Vietnam has been among the facebook leaked data there were records of some 50 million Vietnamese facebook user accounts.

Here are some statistics posted by Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications:

Report on internet statistics

According to the Ministry, the Vietnamese adoption of IPv6 addresses has ranked first in ASEAN and fifth in the world.
