Here's what I'd suggest:Vietnam's Mekong Delta is a truly breathtaking destination that is absolutely worth spending a day and a night at.

The vibrant culture, picturesque landscapes, and incredible floating markets will leave you in awe.

And let me tell you, dedicating some time to Phong Nha in central Vietnam will be like adding a cherry on top of your already amazing Mekong Delta experience!Phong Nha is a hidden gem that will blow your mind with its stunning caves and breathtaking natural beauty.

You'll have the opportunity to explore the magnificent Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park and witness some of the world's most impressive cave systems.

Trust me, you don't want to miss out on this adventure! So, my opinionated friend, I strongly recommend dedicating a day and a night to the mesmerizing Mekong Delta and then heading over to Phong Nha to continue your Vietnamese escapade.

Safe travels and enjoy the wonders that await you!

Yes, it's worth visiting. I like Can Tho and Chau Doc. Don't do the one day tour from Saigon, it is too tiring. Either book your own bus or do a longer tour.

It is an absolute big fat icy cold NO from me. Please do not waste your money for that tour to the Mekong delta or whatever you are thinking of.

As a Vietnamese, I always find it surprising how Mekong delta region manages to attract so many foreign tourists, maybe it is the cheapest and most profitable kind of tour to organize for tour companies and sounds exotic to foreign tourists? It has occured to me many times when a foreign friend tells me they have been to Vietnam solely to visit this Mekong delta, I honestl feel nothing but sorry for them. I live in Vungtau, South East region of Vietnam which is only 500km away btw. I have been to Mekong delta only once in my life despite living so close by and didn’t even like it, I think it is a terrible tourist trap. I am not planning to go there again anytime soon unless really necessary, not like I have anything against them but seriously why traveling half the globe to see such place?

The culture of this region is nothing similar to the rest of the country, neither does the cuisine nor people mindset. I just cannot understand, if you want architecture, or history go to Hue or Hanoi, if you want some of modern-wannabe piece of Vietnam then go to Saigon or Nha Trang, if you want a relaxed holiday trip, go to Phan Thiet, Phu Quoc, Sapa, or Halong, Trang An most of these places are breathtakingly beautiful and unique in their own ways, at the same time can well serve those who have adventurous blood too, so why on earth Mekong delta? If you know the movie District 13, then it is just like visiting District 13 on your trip to Paris. My answer will surely upset those Vietnamese come from that region but sorry fellows, it is really not that great.

Yes, if you can afford a private tour. I bought a two night / three day trip and was very disappointed. Most of the time we spend on busses shoved like cattle from one work shop to another where tons of local craft/arts and souvenirs were sold. Hotels were bad. Overcrowded.

This area is worth a visiting.

You may find many places to take boat trip on Mekong River, many floating Market, Handicraft villages , but Mekong Delta is the best destination to explore it in REAL.

Maybe 1000+ small villages in this area. Boat is the best transportation to connect it.

Many people here live still on the boat. They can buy everything from floating market.

I think Mekong Delta is a good place to understand another lifestyle.

I have not traveled yet, but I am planning a trip in December. I am not visiting the Mekong Delta. However, a good friend of mine, who is well traveled across SE Asia, recommended it for me.

He suggested that I go to Can Tho by bus and then take some river trips along the Mekong delta. They have day tours and even overnight cruises (which are a bit expensive). One could go further south on the Mekong and even up to Cambodia. He suggested that it would be a nice 1-2 day trip along the river. There are tour companies that sell tickets.

Wish you a happy journey !
