‘Impressive’ is opinion. It isn’t fact. Many people thus have various opinion on a topic such as (on your topic) impressive, unimpressive, same-same, boring, amazing and etc. It means you couldn’t jump to conclusion and classify your own opinion as fact.

I’m not sure… what do you mean by impressive architecture? Keep in mind that a dynasty of Khmer kings ruled one of the largest, most prosperous, and sophisticated kingdoms in the history of Southeast Asia encompassing most of the territory which is now Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. Structures built from the 9th to 13th century in these countries were mostly of Cambodian origin.

Someone already answered why Cambodia didn’t have architecture as impressive as Egypt or India! That same answer can be used for this question!

Not sure about Thailand. And I am not sure either if my explanation is to some extent correct as far as Vietnam is concerned. The Vietnamese kingdoms were small. They did not have much resources to make “mega projects". Secondly, for some reason, I don't see any historical sites made of stone. The ones I have seen are made of bricks and wood. Such structures wouldn't last long. And third, the Vietnamese favor a harmony with the nature. They prefer small structures that hide under big trees rather than big structures that require the clearing of large areas and stand out under the sky.

Obviously you were impressed by Angkor watt . Many of the temples/wats of Cambodia are of interest. However, in Vietnam if you study the architecture of the country you are studying its history. Very roughly, you can start with the Ly dynasty (11th-12th centuries) then Tran (13th),to Le (16 & 17th), finally the Nguyen dynasty of the 17th to mid 19th century. If you like French Colonial you can continue forward in time and design. Each period has its own unique design and I will list ref at the end as the architecture of Vietnam is so varied and distinctive that it deserves your study.

Thailand’s architecture is varied although not as much as Vietnam’s. If Angkor Wat impressed you, you should like Pradat Hin Phimal, an example of Khmer architecture found in Thailand. You might also find Wat Rong Khun, a 20th century temple, still under construction
