Genes. Some people are just born thin

Traditional diet. The Vietnamese daily meals are filled with fresh vegetables, fruits, and little use of oil or cream, butter, cheese, and the like. So we eat healthy, naturally we stay healthy.

Societal idea of beauty. The ideal beauty standard for Vietnamese women is possessing a small, hour-glass figure. Therefore, a lot of girls would try to control their weight, eat & exercise regularly.

There are still obese people though, just the number is very few.

I think because they must work too hard. The weather in Vietnam is too hot to become fat. And they must satisfy the (sexual) requirements of the Vietnamese men too much. What a pity!

Firstly they live in hot climate.

Secondly, the code in their DNA decides how thin they are.

Not all of Vietnamese women are thin. They are short, that is the thing, the average height of Vietnamese women is about 165cm and that gives the feeling of thin And since “not too many of them” have the right diet and exercise circle because of busy school life or stress or blah blah. They may look thin, but under the shirt is like 3 waves of fat . To most Vnmese women, fat isn’t spread out the body but concentrates in the belly, butt and upper legs. So the final answer is they are not thin at all, just the outlook

First, genetics. Vietnamese are small framed compared to other ethnicity. Asians, also, are generally smaller than Westerners.

Diets. In Vietnam it is cheaper to eat healthy than to eat unhealthy. Vegs and fruits are available and cheap. The cuisine also consists of a lot of vegs. It is standard for every meal to have three dishes, one of which is vegs. Desserts aren’t cake, but fruits.

Poverty. It used to be that way in before 80s (people were poorer, work more physically, and overall thinner back then). But this isn’t the case now.

Fat shaming is still prevalent. If one is fat, especially women, they will get look and words from others. Not everyone is insensitive, but the notion that “fat isn’t good” is very obvious. No one would tell you “you’re beautiful being fat”. Only the other way around.
