It is my pleasure to answer this question. But first, I will tell my experience from Ho Chi Minh City
Fried corn (Bắp xào): mixed corn, sweet shrimp, butter with a wonderful technique from the seller, ready ingredient and cook in front of the buyer.
Grilled kinds of seafood: it is sound weird when seafood is a kind of snacks in Ho Chi Minh City, but hey, it cheap, it taste good so why not.
Grilled squid
Location: well, this is a sad story, the most popular location for those was in student village in Ho Chi Minh City, but not anymore, the place was reconstructed for university building by the government. Around the city, especially in a crowded area, you may find one or two places sell this.
Next is my favourite: grilled skewers stuffs
Still hungry? How about some things nutrition for you. This is my childhood food.
This is crab soup, mixed ingredient inside.
Location: in some small restaurants around the city, if lucky and have a good sense you can find some mid-age people sell this outside the street (but watch out, the soup is really hot, Ouch!!!)
Don’t want to eat soup. want something dry and fried? Try this:
This is the traditional foods from the mid-region of Vietnam, also from my hometown, I love and miss my hometown so much, grow up there. Now I am in UK and crying when eating pizza, just introduce a lovely memory for you. In Ho Chi Minh City there are some restaurants sell this. The price is about 1 to 2 pounds. The name is “Bánh căn”. Some kind of mixed pie. You can search “bánh xèo” “bánh khọt” for replacing food.
For the desert: Chè (some kind of sweet beans with coconut milk and other stuff)
