What if Southern Vietnam still survived today under Nguyễn Văn Thiệu’s regime until the 1980s? What would happen to the Vietnamese (both Northern Vietnamese and Southern Vietnamese)?

South Vietnam’ll probably survive long term since it's way pass the sino Soviet split . North Vietnam would be sandwiched between hostile China and south Vietnam .

Since north Vietnam made itself out to support USSR and is situated on the Chinese border there is no reason for China not to support south Vietnam for security issues

Who knows maybe the south would be more developed compared to today judging by South Korea and Taiwan
