How much should a taxi from HCMC airport to district 1 cost?

Hi We will be arriving around noon to HCMC airport and would like to take a taxi to our hotel in district 1 (the transfer price that the hotel is asking (around USD 60) looks too high for us) How much should a taxi ride cost? Should we take a metered taxi or just set a price in advance? Thanks.

The best Option is to use Vinasun taxi with taximeter. It shouldn't cost more than 10 USD. If you are on a budget, you can also take the public bus 152, which departs in front of the aiport and costs only 10k Dong.

Mai Linh taxi from Airport to Pham Ngu Lao cost me 130000 Dong just over a month ago. Just walk out the Airport, turn left and look for a guy in a green tie and Mai Linh logo Shirt. He will get your the next available cab.
The taxi driver should turn the meter on straight away, if he doesnt just give him a friendly reminder!
