We come out next month and will be bringing £ sterling, although I will exchange some before we get there for the airport. The exchange rate here is currently 30,000 for the £1, can you let me know what exchange rate I am likely to get in Vietnam. Also if the exchange rate is poor in England, would I be better exchanging £ for VND and paying my hotels in VND. Thanks

It was over 32200 (can't remember the exact amount) last week at the airport. This week I got 32354 at Parksons department store. You might get a bit more by shopping around (the rate goes up and down daily anyway) and the difference usually amount to maybe 50p per £100. Got far better things to do than waste time chasing pennies.

There are many places you can exchange, see this thread

Get yourself a currency exchange app for your phone and have the international rate at your fingertips 24/7.
The rate at the gold stores in Vietnam is very close to the international rate , occasionally better.
Rate right now is 32700 dong to GBP. I dont like using banks, apart from a lower rate, it sometimes takes half an hour to do business in there. Gold stores are fast and easy.
