Idiom Usage:

When this idiom is used in the:
  • first person plural (we)
  • second person plural (you all)
  • third person plural (they)
it can be automatically reflexive.  For example:
We fell in love (with each other).  It is not necessary to add (with each other) to convey the meaning of "with each other".  It is optional to add (with each other).
or
We fell in love with the cruise ship we vacationed on.

When this idiom is used in the:
  • first person singular (I)
  • second person singular (you)
  • third person singular (he / she)
it is possible to imply "with" who or what if the who or what is unknown.  For example
I fell in love.  I fell in love with something or someone.  In this case the something or someone is unknown but implied to exist.
I fell in love with you.   Now we know who or what the unknown something or someone is.
