By 1970, by the time Nixon was in office, the Vietnam conflagration had become the longest war in U.S. history. Nearly 50,000 had already been killed and up to 200,000 wounded.

By the end of December, 1968 some 31000 Americans had been killed in Vietnam since 1961, and about 200000 had been wounded. The last week of December 1968 marked the end of the bloodiest year in the Vietnam War. VietnamAnswer again soon!
