The most commonly held pro-war argument concerned the spread of Communism in Indochina. Many believed that if South Vietnam fell to the North Vietnamese Communist regime, it would result in a domino effect spreading Communism. An anti-war argument was that the US was merely trying to impose itself on Vietnam just as the Communists were.
